Assistant Professor and Head of the Department
Having two years of teaching experience and five years of research experience, Prof. Sreeja Puthiya Purayil has been appointed as Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Economics in 2020 and continues to educate students of the department in light of the vision and mission of the department. She is an excellent academician with publications in peer reviewed journals and in international as well as in national seminars. Through attending several workshops and conferences over the years of her studies, she made herself efficient and apt in being a teacher for undergraduate students of economics. She has completed her doctoral research from Kannur University and submitted her PhD thesis after successfully defending her thesis and currently awaits conferring the doctoral degree. She obtained her Master’s Degree in Applied Economics and Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Kannur University and has cleared UGC NET with Junior Research Fellowship. Her compassionate attitude in teaching, essential leadership qualities and the concrete knowledge of the subject constantly stimulates the department to spread its wings towards vast opportunities in academics.

Prof. Syam Santhosh has acquired Master’s Degree in Applied Economics, securing 2nd rank in the university, and Bachelor’s Degree in Economics as well as Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science Education from Kannur University. During the course of his master degree, he cleared the national level teaching eligibility test – UGC NET and while pursuing the bachelor’s degree in education, he acquired the necessary skills for being an excellent educator. He has been active in academics since his undergraduate classes through participation in seminars, workshops, conferences and other academic activities of the sort. Deep knowledge in applied and mathematical economics and in its practical applications marks his importance in the department as they are conceived to be the desired qualities for training the students in practical applications of economics.
